      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A worth while investment if you need something that travels light and is powerful enough

The Toshiba NB100 to me personally, is one of the best pieces of technology I have purchased, not only does it have amazing functionality it is also small and lightweight making transportation a doddle!

In terms of screen size and resolution, the NB100 has managed to strike the right balance, big enough to read but also small enough to keep the overall size compact.

It has fast running speeds and comes with very generous hard drive space, especially useful if you're like me and you like taking a lot of pictures.

It comes supplied with Wi-Fi capability which is not to be overlooked considering the size of this net book and with it's Wi-Fi, it comes in handy when spending a lot of time in hotels and airports or anywhere with Wi-Fi for that matter.

It has 3 built in USB ports which again come in handy for hooking up USB sticks, cameras and phones etc. As well as having a built in memory card reader.

However, I must say that you have to be extremely careful when purchasing a NB100 because of operating systems. I would seriously recommend that if you are not very advanced with computer technology, that you look for a NB100 that is equipped with a distribution of Windows. I am saying this because, when I purchased mine, I did not pay attention to this seemingly insignificant fact and I ended up with a Linux operating system to get my head around. And although I am very comfortable around computer software, it was still a significant leap for me to convert.

In short, this is a very nifty little machine, small and lightweight, with powerful features for it's size make it a serious contender among other netbooks within the same price range.

Nice netbook that fits in your handbag

Totally love this addition to the Toshiba family. My laptop and base unit have been pushed aside in favour of this new addition. It's fast, highly responsive, boots up quicklyand decently priced. Contrary to what is said about netbooks, this one has no problems coping with multiple applications at one time. I love the fact that it is so light and small and fits into my handbag easily, which means I can carry it with me everywhere. The size of the screen and the slight difference in key layout took a bit of getting used to, but now I can type on it in my sleep.
Microsoft office works brilliantly on this application and online movies and music play brilliantly from it. The sound from this laptop is fair, but if you like to carry it around as I do and have it as your companion as you do the dishes or the ironing external speakers may be a worthwhile investment.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

for the price its worth a try

          pretty good laptop.
it comes at a cheap prcies and even tho it varies by reseller it is till a good try as a student or as a second laptop really. I got mine at www.lavacomp.co.uk just yesterday free delivery and all that. its a pretty laptop all together and the battery is also good. There is very poor camera on the top of screen. It's only 0.3 mp, which is actually good for nothing. It comes with bundled of installed software which is highly appreciated and helpful for daily office works and net surfing. The os for this system is ubuntu netbook remix. It's kind of weird for users who have been using XP or vista for long time, they will feel uncomfortable. But at least you can change the OS back to your preferred one. There is no optical drive with this netbook but it has four usb slots for data transfer facility.

The outlook of this netbook is very attractive, but the keyboard is absolute nightmare, they are overcrowded and very uncomfortable for fast typing. You definitely have to have very thin fingers for accurate and fast typing, sometimes its feel like typing TEXT in mobile phone.

          It is cheaper at www.lavacomp.co.uk

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Toshiba NB100 has been unsuccessful to bring any noteworthy variation in the phase of netbooks.

Netbooks have been introduced to consumers as the secondary option of laptop, which allows them to perform the basic computing tasks, office works and web surfing but not for extensive uses. Consumers can get them in much cheaper price than laptops.

Having said that, this Toshiba netbook is not something outstanding or standout choice to go for. It does not perform exceptionally poor or exceptionally better than other netbooks. The processor is Intel atom N270 with processing 1.6 GHz. It's a single core processor with modest speed. Atom 200 series is designed as single core with having the ability to perform 2 instructions per cycle. So, just for very normal office works it's all right. Though in the bright side, Intel Atom processors come with speedstep technology, which allows less consumption of power and battery longevity as well.

It's has only one slot for ram, and supports maximum up to 1GB. Still, why Toshiba put 512 mb ram here, I absolutely have no clue. Due to insufficient ram, it causes low resolution in screen. Though it says that, it is compatible upto 1024 x 600 but it only works fine up to 800x600.

All in all, very insignificant spec and poor keyboard layout. It is kind of expensive, because you are spending more than £200, still it's doesn't satisfy your needs properly. It's a huge setback.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

best to choose the version with Windows XP

The Toshiba NB100 has behaved well in our tests and shows that this category of products may well meet the needs of connectivity when it requires a smaller footprint to a minimum. From an aesthetic point of view is not appealing sports solutions, while keyboard and autonomy are improved, but overall it is a good product that will give satisfaction.

We welcome the presence of Blutetooth on all versions and the ability to mount even a solid-state drive (SSD) instead of traditional hard disk, but it is said that the Japanese house in the future does not propose solutions in this direction.

The Toshiba NB100 (NB100-11R) with Ubuntu Netbook Remix has a very good value for money. In cases where the use of Netbook foresees the establishment of Office documents, browsing and e-mail, the operating system that is more reliable, does not present problems. However, it is best to choose the version with Windows XP if there is a need to use special software or hardware you'd like a slightly better, of course spending a little more.
