The Gigabit Etherlink NIC enables simple, scalable, network migration. It operates in existing 32-bit PCI slots as well as upcoming 64-bit PCI slots. It provides the benefit of Gigabit with the familiarity of Ethernet. The card is Fast IP-enabled. Fast IP is a DynamicAccess software feature that enables the card to overcome routing bottlenecks and deliver performance up to 1000Mbps. 3Com guarantees the Etherlink will be interoperable with the final IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet standard. The card has 256K on-board SRAM and features LEDs to report data and link status. The Etherlink can coexist with existing ATM, Fast Ethernet and Ethernet networks and can operate with switched FDDI environments.
