	Buffalo LinkStation 250GB Network Storage Center ... was expecting this device to be very easy to setup (simple web-based interface) but instead it was quite clumsy in the end. Some of the web interface menus are very slow to refresh and the speed of the interface in general is suspect. I always noticed that the drive was very noisy, and would sometimes ramp up its fan for no apparant reason. Eventually (as in a few weeks) it failed completely. The drive would spin down after about 10 minutes and never spin back up. I did an RMA and then refused the replacement as I felt the whole product quality was quite low. The advatages are: support Apple (and other SAMBA based systems) and comes in a sensible disk sizes (160G... 	Netgear PS121 ... second unit, and am about to return it also. The unit runs very hot, after about 3 weeks service deteriorates then have to reload. Usually at this point, a call to Netgear is needed as the unit has failed. Spoke to their suppport, they are clueless. Had to go through Corporate NetGear to get it replaced without paying for shipping. Problem: The product has no venting to aid in heat release, the components are marginally in (thermal) spec therefore over heating. Poorly designed product. 	General Comments on Networking ... how things snowball, isn't it? There I was last week, thinking that I'd just got my PC set-up just how I wanted it - broadband connection, flat 17" LCD screen, hi-fi sound, plenty of RAM and disk space and a none-too-shabby processor speed, when into the Nibelung household comes another supposedly broken-down PC, a kind of payment-in-kind for services rendered to a lady colleague at work.
