To most of the readers on here, you will have probably been on some form of networked PC at some time. If you are solely a home user, then this opinion will not form much imterest but please, give it a go. It may be informative to you and give you an insight into the world of Networks. What is a Network first of all?. Well it is a system by which computers can communicate with each other. This can be as little as 2 computers connected directly to each other with 1 cable or 1000's of computers linked via massive servers. In fact, you are part of one of the biggest networks right now if you areading this online. The World Wide Web is essentially one ... Read the complete review

I have been using one of these network cards ever since I moved into student halls (I have an ethernet conection to the net in my room going through this card) and I love it. Other people in my halls are content to download from the net at up to 500K a second with their cheap nasty no-name network cards. I can get just under 1 meg a second over the exact same network using this card, which I think speaks for itself. It is a lovely card to use once it is installed, but I had murder installing it on my PC. This card, as with most 3-Com cards, is very much worth purchasing. The auto-detect feature is faultless and as far as compatibility goes there's more than ample support on the driver disks to get you going be it DOS, windows or Linux. The cost of these cards would be a concern of mine if purchasing for a company as it'll soon add-up to quite a bit of cash. If you don't have cashflow issues or are only buying a few then by all means in vest in an excellent card. Once thing I think worth mentioning about these cards is their driver support. I know I said above that they have lots of OS support. But what I like more is the fact that ... Read the complete review

3Com's excellent network interface card (NIC)certainly cuts the mustart especially for the desktop. It gives 10Mbps over CAT 3, 4 or 5, and 100Mbps for CAT 5. It has the usual RJ45 and BNC connections for ethernet networks. Installation is a dream especially on plug and play operating systems. For the network management freaks among you it has :- 1) Performance Management 2) Network Management (over switched networks) 3) Remote Wake Up (RWU) 4) Desktop Management capabilities. Overall the card is extremely reliable and robust. ... Read the complete review
