3Com Network Monitoring Module ... crucial element in an overall NetFlow application architecture by operating as a Network Data Exporter (NDE). As an NDE, the Network Monitoring Module processes and stores statistical data, and then exports this across the network to a Network Data Collector (NDC). The export is compatible with NetFlow versions 5, 8 and 9.

Designed for the needs of medium-sized enterprises, the module has its own operating system, allowing the data acquisition processes to be separated from the switch processing. By embedding this process within the module, the need for additional appliances or devices is reduced, eliminating redundant management of multiple devices and lowering capital expenditures and reducing operating costs.

The Network Monitoring Module occupies any I/O (payload) slot in the Switch 8800 chassis, is hot swappable, and interfaces directly with the high-capacity switch backplane, fully utilizing the internal switching capabilities of the switch.
