Edimax PS 1206P ... is a small print server made by Edimax. It connects to the printer via a parallel interface and connects to a router via an ethernet cable. This allows the printer to be accessed by any computer on the network. It comes in a small box containing the device, the power supply, the drivers and the booklet with setup instructions. The device attaches to the printer securely and easily. However the instructions in the booklet are cryptic at best. Written in "Japanese English", following them will not result in the device working. D-Link DP 300U ... I work, we have always purchased the HP Jetdirect print server devices. However, when we bought a whole load of Magicard badge printers we found out after several painful days that these only worked with the D-link DP300u print servers due to some strange setting within the printer. With this information, we were forced into buying the D-link blind with no time to do any background research or fact finding. The D-link is a 3 port print server, 2 ports are serial with the other being USB. This means that upto 3 printers can be attached to the print server at any one time. Netgear PS121 ... second unit, and am about to return it also. The unit runs very hot, after about 3 weeks service deteriorates then have to reload. Usually at this point, a call to Netgear is needed as the unit has failed. Spoke to their suppport, they are clueless. Had to go through Corporate NetGear to get it replaced without paying for shipping. Problem: The product has no venting to aid in heat release, the components are marginally in (thermal) spec therefore over heating. Poorly designed product.
