Description: Model ID AT-MC301 / Allied Telesis AT MC301 - Transceiver - 100Base-FX, 100Base-TX - RJ-45 - VF-45 multi-mode - external - up to 2 km / Allied Telesis'' new AT-MC300 family of high-speed media converters allow network managers to cost-effectively convert 100Base-TX connections ... more
Allied Telesis AT MC301 ... to 100Base-FX quickly and reliably. Three new connector types are utilized to maximize conversion options and network design flexibility. These are the: VF-45 (AT-MC301), MT-RJ (AT-MC302) and LC (AT-MC303) fiber-optic connectors.

Fast Ethernet continues to be deployed throughout the enterprise at an impressive rate. Along with transition to higher speed LANs, a growing number of networking professionals are installing fiber in key areas of the network. Fiber delivers greatly enhanced cable distances, security features, and increased bandwidth capabilities. Because of this increased demand for fiber, cable installers have developed a cleaner and faster way to install cable utilizing new small form-factor connectors. Allied Telesis'' AT-MC300 family of media converters are an elegant, low cost way to add fiber connectivity into today's high-speed networks. The new media converters feature Plug-and- play installation and a compact chassis design enabling the AT-MC300 family to be used in a wide variety of networking environments. Constructed from high-quality materials the AT-MC300 series are designed to be an integral component of Fast Ethernet networks. These media converters have a feature called MissingLink. MissingLink will give the host (router, server, switch), attached to each end of the converter, critical information about the status of the remote segment link. If either link fails the converter interacts with both hosts, making each instantly aware of the link fault. Either host can then execute pre-programmed, redundant transmission path selection.

Each media converter has a link test switch. Flip the switch to test, and this feature will allow the user to test the Link connection between each converter without connecting the rest of network. This is done by attaching two converters back to back. When the switch is set in normal mode, the LED will be lit. The product will then work normal. Each media converter features a MDI/MDIX crossover switch allowing the unit to connect directly to either a PC, switch or hub. The AT-MC300 family utilizes six status indicator LEDs located on the front of the unit. These LEDs provide network status for both the TX and FX ports. The AT-MC300 family employs the latest IC designs and surface mount technology to provide highly reliable, yet inexpensive solutions to network media conversion. All of Allied Telesis'' 10Mbps or 100Mbps media converters can be used in a standalone or rackmountable environment (using the AT-MCR12 chassis).
