Introduction
##########

I wanted a way in which I could (easily) transfer files between my main computer and my laptop. The first thing which springed to mind was a USB data stick - but this was abit tedious at times plugging and unplugging all the time. I saw this data cable on eBuyer for £14.99 and thought this was the ticket!

So here is my review on this cable.

Who is it For?
###########

This is for people who want to transfer data between computers, that maybe laptops or computers or a combination. You can leave the device plugged in so there is always that transfer available (just like your on a network in a sense).

The Cable
#########

Manufactured with a reinforced plastic cable, it is a strong durable cable. The colour of the whole device is grey witch light grey cabling. The working of the device is simple. Imagine a cable with USB plugs on each end with a little box in the middle - and that's it. what's inside the little box between the cable; I don't know - I would guess this is what regulates the file transfer, memory of some sort which buffers the data between the computers.

This is USB 2.0 which means it will transfer your files in the highest speed possible with the latest USB. If you are still on the old USB - don't despair - it will still work for you but at the lower speed.

The Installation
#############

This is REALLY short and sweet. Simply plug one end into one computer and the other end into the other using the USB port. And that's it! that's your installation. It's that simple. Windows picked up the new device on each computer and installed it on its own. I am a Windows XP user - I don't know how other operating systems will react and install this device.

The Transfer
###########

Okay, so once the installation was complete, file transfer between one computer to the other is just as simple. You just use the The Windows Easy Transfer wizard to transfer the file(s). The transfer speed is rather fast, 1GB took about 2 minutes.

You can transfer data either way, i.e between computer 1 & 2 and also the other way around; computer 2 & 1 ; you can do this without having to unplug or do anything else.

Conclusion
#########

This is a really simple device which lets you transfer files in the simplest way possible - there are no limits with data size like data pens. This is highly recommended.

Sounds useful but you could undoubtedly have achieved the same result with a piece of cross-over network cable between the network ports of both machines.

I like the sound of this, especially as I use XP too.

I think these are a great idea, but would have to do some research before using it with vista (otherwise known as the OS that doesnt know if its coming or going)
