This is a fairly expensive, but simple, printer server. With this print server you can easily share a normal printer over a network. You can then printer from this printer without having to have any other computers in the network on. Setup is easy for the server, but it can take 20-30 minutes to follow the advanced instructions and set this up on each computer in your network. Once it is up, you can manage the settings and connect to it using the web interface from inside your web browser. You can change settings and reboot the server and manage the print queue. A few disadvantages are that it is quite expensive for what it does and any extra printer functionality such as a scanner is lost when using the server. It also seems to have a few bugs causing things to not print or it will stop responding. But overall it is a fairly good product.
The DP-301U print server lets you easily share your USB printer with a group of users at home or in the office over an Ethernet network. Supporting multiple network operating systems, this device brings a high level of flexibility and performance to your printing needs.
The DP-301U supports as many network OS, including Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, XP, Apple MacOS with AppleTalk, Linux, Solaris, SCO Unix and NetWare 5.x native NDS. This allows you to flexibly install the print server, regardless of your network environment.
Setup the print server is easy with a Windows-based menudriven program, which guides you through all the necessary steps to set up and configure your network printer. SNMP and latest MIB-II MIBs are also built into the print server, allowing you to manage this device on any SNMP standard based network.
