The DVG-5121SP incorporates Quality of Service (QoS) features to ensure that voice quality over the Internet is the same or even surpasses that received on the ordinary phone. It supports many useful functions such as call transfer, caller ID display, 3-way conference, phone book, speed dialing and hot lines to make it convenient to dial out or answer phone calls.

The DVG-5121SP supports voice VLAN to isolate voice communications so they cannot be tapped over the network. It provides NAT firewall to protect the network from Internet intruders. For access control, filters can be configured based on port, MAC address or IP address. Parental control allows for the blocking of undesired web sites and the setting up of time schedules for Internet logins.
