Digi Portserver ... the highly successful PortServer and PortServer II. The PortServer is an entry level terminal server that allows you to connect clusters of eight or 16 high-speed serial ports to any TCP/IP Ethernet network. It supports asynchronous terminals, modems, printers and other serial devices and is hardware independent, allowing users to access any type of networked server supporting TCP/IP.

The PortServer II communications server supports all of the features of the PortServer plus higher performance, configuration expandability from 16 to 64 ports, and extensive network management and security features. Additionally, the PortServer II supports dial-up and LAN-to-LAN connections for TCP/IP remote access to your corporate LAN or the Internet over Frame Relay and analog lines. The Digi PortServer Family gives system administrators a new level of control over networked resources. That's because Digi's RealPort software provides local serial port functionality (Real TTY) as well as incoming and outgoing Rlogin and Telnet sessions on each port. And with Digi's RealPort driver for Windows NT, which provides native COM ports, users can attach serial devices and transparently use them as if they were directly connected to the Windows NT server. These locally administered, "hardware style" ports allow much greater control. This technology allows the PortServer product line to provide a seamless integration of local and remote access terminals, modems and printers into industry-standard TCP/IP Ethernet networks.
