This is a small print server made by Edimax. It connects to the printer via a parallel interface and connects to a router via an ethernet cable. This allows the printer to be accessed by any computer on the network. It comes in a small box containing the device, the power supply, the drivers and the booklet with setup instructions. The device attaches to the printer securely and easily. However the instructions in the booklet are cryptic at best. Written in "Japanese English", following them will not result in the device working. It did not work for us far a long time, and required a call to the Edimax technical support team before it could be made to work. They were very helpful, and had it working in no time at all. When working, this device is brilliant to use, and we have never had a problem from it. It stacks jobs well and responds fast. Good value device.
The print server's easy-to-use windows installation wizard allows for quick installation and setup the print server. The print server can also be conveniently configured from any network client that supports web browsing.
Supports both Peer-to-Peer and Server-based printing. LAN clients can connect directly with the print server to execute printing jobs (Peer-to-Peer printing); or clients can send print jobs first to a server (queuing jobs) and allow the server to connect with the print server to execute the printing jobs (Server-based printing).
The print server provides LPR, IPP, SMB/TCP, Raw Printing and UNIX Logical Printer printing methods. You can choose the best printing method according to your environment.
The print server is compatible with all major operating systems used today.
The printer server can act as a DHCP server, allowing your LAN clients to automatically obtain an IP address or it can act as a DHCP client allowing for easy integration to your existing network.
This print server is compatible with the majority of HP, EPSON, Lexmark, Canon, Brother, Konica Minolta etc. MFPs and Printers.
