LinkSys Cheap but you Get what you pay for (General Comments on Networking)
Member Name: mrwhitei
Advantages: Cheap if you are on a buget Disadvantages: They dont work when transfering lots of data and they like to restart your computer without warning
I bought a new computer, to add to my home network. I had an old setup by using BNC (ie coaxial cable), this worked fine and i had my internet connection shared using a program called Sygate. Everything was fine until i realised that it was nearly impossible to find a PCI network card that had port for BNC. So I took a look at my bank account and decided that I could afford to buy more network cards. Again since I needed to change my network setup to RJ45 connectors and i have more than two PCs a Hub was also needed. So i went to PC World and had a look about. What caught my eye was a network starter kit made by LinkSys. This kit included two network cards and a five port hub. It only costed fifty five pounds which i thought was a bargain. I got home and put the network cards into my new machine and one of the other computers, set them all up and everything worked fine. Then when i tryied to copy files accross from the other computers the computer i was coping the files to restarted by itself without warning, the same thing happeden when i was having a relaxing game of Quake 2 with my friends. The other computer with the new Network card also did the same when I was doing the same actions. Summary: |
