Juniper Adaptive Services II PIC ... from Juniper Networks deliver hardware-based packet processing to enable these network-based services with uncompromising performance. These services include stateful firewall, NAT, flow based accounting, IPSec encryption, multilink, tunnel services, and other value-added packet processing functions. Based on the highly dependable Juniper Networks hardware and software routing architecture, the IP Services PICs plug directly into M- and T-series routers and can be combined to enable multiple high-performance services on the same platform. The modular approach of the IP Services PICs allows providers to add the appropriate services on an as-needed basis, gracefully scaling the network as the demand for enhanced services occurs.

Adaptive Services (AS) PIC supports a new level of services integration and performance. The AS PIC supports compressed real time protocol (CRTP), Network Address Translation (NAT), stateful firewall, tunnel services, IPSec encryption and J-Flow accounting today while having built-in headroom to support additional services in the future.
