The Linksys PAP2 phone adapter is a VOIP phone adapter, allowing you to change your regular telephone into a VOIP phone. This is useful as VOIP phones themselves are hugely expensive, and secondly USB VOIP phones only operate while your computer is switched on. Therefore by using this adapter you have a permanent phone line that gives cheap call rates all over the world at any time of the day!
Installation is easy all you need to do is connect the PAP2 adapter to an Ethernet port on your network and connect your telephone to the adapter, and follow your VOIP providers instructions for setup. There is one problem in this in that the adapter is designed for American phones (RJ45) and therefore has a different adapter to what we are used to in the UK (BT), this is product is easily found Google 'BT to RJ45 adapters' and several should be found at a reasonable price, or alternatively these are available on eBay for about £3.
The product itself retails for approximately £30, once again they are available from eBay for about £15. The reason for this is that companies provide the PAP2 adapter locked to their service; however these can be unlocked and sold on by others.
This is an amazing buy especially if you make many foreign calls, it could save you hundreds of pounds a year!
