In addition, the ProxyServer has a built-in router and proxy server software. You don't need to be a networking expert to get the ProxyServer up and running. After you connect the network and ISDN cables to the ProxyServer, the setup wizard walks you through the rest of the setup process. The ProxyServer supports DHCP for automatic assignments of IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS. The ProxyServer provides firewall and gateway security for LAN-based resources. In addition, it supports filtering for Internet access restrictions by IP address, client protocol, forbidden site lists, domain name, IP or MAC address and protocols. The virtual server feature also allows static or dynamic LAN-based web, ftp, or email servers by mapping protocols to LAN addresses. You can easily manage the ProxyServer with standard software because it has built-in web, telnet, ftp, and tftp servers. Its built-in SNMP agent reports to SNMP management systems. The bundled ProxyServer software manages the ProxyServer through either a serial command port or over your IP LAN.
