Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps Soap
by wigglylittleworm
Fragrances can evoke a range of emotions in us, I have early memories of my mum getting ready for a night out and spraying a dab of her L'air du temps onto her wrists. I wonder if it is because of those early associations that the timeless fragrance has become one of my favourites in adulthood? As well as the perfume you can also get ... matching shower gel, moisturiser and soap. I am not keen on the shower gel or the moisturiser as they do not capture the scent very well but the soap is really nice.
The soap is round and a creamy yellow in colour. The doves which symbolise peace and are sculpted on the lid of the bottle are also on the soap. It is an attractive design without being too fancy or showy.
The soap lathers up well giving a thick and luxurious lather. I am someone who does not use soap as a rule and it did not dry out my skin at all. I would not use it on my face as it would be slightly too harsh there but it is perfect as a body soap. I do want to use a moisturiser afterwards to leave my skin silky smooth, an unscented one is best.
The smell is glorious, just like the perfume the main scent is carnation which immediately hits your nose. It also has hints of violet, iris and rose. These scents would be far too flowery on their own but the fact there is jasmine gives it an earthier feel while bergamot, cedar and musk gives it a sexier kick. Altogether these scents combine to give a fragrance which is perfect, feminine without being too flowery and sweet and sensual.
The scent lingers slightly on the skin but it is far nicer when the perfume is layered on top giving a much deeper scent which lasts for longer.
The only downside to the soap is the price, an 100g bar sells for £15 on its own which is a price I would never pay. I received mine as part of a gift set (you can pick up sets for around £20 with the perfume and soap by shopping around). It is a lovely soap which fans of L'air du temps would be delighted to receive as a gift. Read the complete review |

Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps Soap
by MEL0611
I recently posted a review on a bottle of perfume that I own, the Nina Ricci Premier Jour fragrance, I happened to review this as I had been having a little bit of a clear out and it was one of those fragrances that had been put to the back of a draw but that I have recently been using again. The sort out also led me to find some soap by ... Nina Ricci, this was the L'Air du Temps Body Soap and was was part of a gift set, I have used the perfume up but never used the soap, so when my bar of Dove soap next ran out I set about using this one and here are my thoughts.
The soap as I mentioned was part of a set, if you brought this as an individual piece then it would cost around the £13.95 mark, this is for the 100g bar. I think that this is really pricy for some soap and I personally would not pay this. The soap that I had was on a much smaller scale but even so I think it is hard to justify the price tag. To buy individually the soap is found on websites such as Cheap Smells and Fragrance direct, it is not something that you tend to find in the shops.
The soap, the larger sized one comes in a round sized pot; mine was wrapped in some delicate paper. There is an ingredients listing of the soap as well as the name of the brand on the front of the soap. The soap has a noticeable scent to it before you have even used it. With regard to directions for use, we are told to lather the soap up, either in hands first or directly onto the skin with some warm water. The soap has a film forming ingredient which allows the soap to glide across the skin and the perfume scent will then fully come out.
The soap is a yellow into cream colour and there is a picture of 2 birds printed into the soap, it lathers up really well and I began using this soap as opposed to face wash. The soap is of a really good quality and you only need a small amount to get a really good lather going.
The soap is a mixture of scents, ones that are identical to the L'Air du Temp perfume; there are top notes of bergamot and peach, middle notes of rose and jasmine and a base note of Iris, Cedar and sandalwood. The first scent that I noticed was the peach, it was so light and refreshing and then this was followed by the middle note of the rose, it made washing my face a really lovely experience. What I liked was that I could still smell the scent after washing and this soap, like many others that I have tried did not leave my skin feeling dried out.
The soap did a great job of removing all traces of dirt as well as being a great make up remover, all that I needed to do after using the soap was some toner and all dirt was gone! I liked that this made my skin feel quite silky after using it as well as the fact that the scent was still on my skin so I could smell it all night long!
In summary, whilst I would be happy to recommend this soap, I do think that it is quite expensive, unless you will be using this as your make up remover and nothing else then I think it is hard to justify the cost. The quality is excellent though and the fragrance is amazing, the rose and peach are really great.
4 out of 5 from me

Nina Ricci Nina Body Lotion
by bluemoon37
I recieved this as part of a christmas present, either 2008 or 2009 but have only just got round to using it. It came in a giftset containing a Nina Ricci perfume, shower gel and the body lotion, the body lotion is the last one in the set to use and I really like the others, especially the perfume.
The lotion comes in a ... simple, plain white tube, which has a pinky red apple on the front with a silver leaf, this is the same design as the perfume and is a theme running throughout the set. It has a a screw top lid, which makes application slightly easier.
The lotion has a very rich and luxiourious texture to it, it is a thick white cream. The description of this is a "soft body lotion" and that is exactly how I would describe it. It literally soaks into your skin and feels considerably richer than a cheap body butter. I reall y like the fact that the lotion is so thick, you only need a tiny bit but you have to massage it in and then it is absorbed quite quickly.
I usually use it after a shower as it leaves no residue and is absorbed so quickly. I hate having to stand there waiting to dry and then putting my clothes on. It leaves your skin feeling soft, well moisturised and smelling delicious.
The fragrance of the lotion is the same as the perfume, it's quite sweet but not sickly with a light and tangy note to it. I really like to use both on a night out as they work together and you don't end up smelling like a mixture of things. I find the fragrance lingers on your body and isn't overpowering, it's quite a feminine, gentle scent.
I would say it's a lovely lotion but as it is a perfumed "designer" lotion, this is shown with the cost. I think if you buy this separately, it costs around £16 for a 200ml tube and can be found in most department stores. It is definitely better value buying a giftset and bring s the cost per item down considerably.
I really like this body lotion, and I think it's partly down to the Nina scent. If you use the perfume, I would definitely recommed trying this lotion.. It makes my skin smell lovely and leaves it feeling soft, silky and moisturised. Read the complete review |
