Ok so I don't want to put you off buying this game from the very start but if your expecting this to be some amazing 3rd person shooter you can spend hours running through a story and finding all the little things to collect with your friends then this isn't the game for you.
However if your looking for a game thats cheap, a bit of a challenge and you your a fan of arcade games then this maybe what your looking for.
Resident Evil Mercenaries is a score and time based survival arcade shooting filled with zombies, monster, guns, blood, gore, death and destruction while incorporating many of the characters from various other games.
Each mission general consists of battling against the clock to either complete an objective or score enough points to unlock the next mission. As time progresses the missions get harder and enemies become more powerful and more dangerous but so do your weapons and items.
The controls for this games aren't the simplest unless your familiar with previous games in the series and there combat mechanics in-game.
I am unsure but you maybe able to use the nintendo circle pad to make the game play slightly easier but I'm not 100% that is it compatible with the game.
If your a big fan of the series or someone who has logged a fair few hours playing these sorts of games then yes I would buy it (FYI I did buy it :D). However if your someone who likes to pick up the ds every now and then and waste half an hour. Then you may spent that half hour raging about how much you think this game sucks and you wish you never bought it.
Also I wouldn't recommend buying this game for your kids, it has to be one of the most violent games on the 3DS. Its not an Italian plumber jumping on little brown monsters.
This game a) makes you blind and b) gives you some serious thumb ache.
The resident evil franchise has been really good on the major consoles, so I was pleased to see that they had bought out a 'new' game in the series for the DS - especially since this one was in 3d! Unfortuantely, what I got was a very basic shoot 'em up, which was graphically fantastic, but impossible to play!
I think you need a big screen for this kind of game, with the ds there is just not enough accuracy and speed of control to allow you to play this game for a decent period of time. I am a fairly experienced games player and found this incredibly frustrating as the enemy were just too small to get anywhere near.
Ammo was also an issue - some people may say this is the challenge but for me it made it impossible to play.
Maybe the next Resident Evil game for the DS will be better, but I wouldn't bother with this one
