Advantages: Not many
Disadvantages: Bad Graphics, Bad Sound, Bad Gameplay
It's very rare that I find a game I dislike, but this is one of them. I love racing games generally, and ones like Star Wars racer and Mariokart 64 really show off the power of this console, but as with every machine there are games that seem to have been developed for the sake of having another racing game. This feels very much to me like a game that has been developed just because there weren't enough racing games on the N64. The entire game looks and feels hurried and badly written. The handling of the bikes is abysmal. It take a very long time to get the hang of turning without hitting everything in site. With some games, this is a good thing, but with this one it is just irritating and once you have the hang of it, the game does not play any better. The graphics are pathetic. Some of the levels look half decent in places, but generally it is difficult to see properly and what you can see does not look good. The sound is similarly awful. Overall, I would encourage people not to touch this game with a bargepole. On the face of it, it looks fantastic, and it is because of the way the game looks that I bought it. I made a huge mistake. Save your money for Star Wars Racer - this isn't even worth considering.

- 22/07/01 After a lot of practice, I eventually managed to get around the first course without hitting a wall. I was very proud of myself for that :P |
