I've been playing it for a few weeks now, and I still find it difficult to figure out my moves etc, and end up just bashing away at any and every button onmy controller, in no kind of order at all! ( it works for me). Mind you,t hats how I play most games these days. My son loves it, and at only 7 is far better at palying this game than his mum is. It is a great game nonetheless, and I am hooked on it. Thers not really all that m...more

FIFA 99 (N64): Good fun but not a patch on ISS (662 words)

Before writing this review I honestly questioned myself whether there was any point, as I thought that next to nobody would be interested in purchasing a football game which is over three years old on an (nearly) extinct system. Besides anyone with any sense with an interest in football would already have hastily bought a Playstation along with the sublime ISS Pro Evolution. However I do now recollect that I never enjoyed Konami's series on the N64 (something about the gameplay just didn't seem right) and I couldn't deny that after having Fifa 99 for this long it was still "a great laugh" to play when friends came round. How many football games ...  Read the complete review

Love football? get some mates round and play this game on the N64. Unlike their first foray into footie games fifa 64 this version, which is mark 4, is brilliant. It plays very fast, has excellent options for creating your own super leagues and cups using domestic and international teams, a transfer system, player and team editing and good artificial intelligence. Once mastered, don't play this game alone it really comes into its own when played with friends, there really is nothing better than mentioning a friend's belter of a shot has 'gone for a throw in'. Ok, so I brought my kid an N^$ cos he wanted a games console and it was cheap (£10.30 on ebay, and that includes postage!) ] But, i've relaised I miss the days of images that are blocks, of classic graphics and games. Yes, the N^$ is old, and not many people want them anymore, hence the low price, BUT there stillw anted but fans of the classics, and mothers wanting cheap consoles to shut thier kids up. go buy ISS 2000 instead (105 words)

Do yourself a big favour, dont waste your money on this game when there are far better footy sims around. Although this game will probably keep your attention for a while it's not nearly as smooth or realistic as ISS2000. About the only thing going for this game is that it has the liscenese enabling the use of proper footballer's names instead of having to make up new ones or slightly change the originals. What's more, i think any good gamer will find this game of little challenge with the defenders easy to beat and the goalkeepers AI pretty predictable. ...  Read the complete review
