Advantages: Amazing graphics, So easy to play

Disadvantages: Very tricky

The boys at Twycross have the gaming world in their pocket. Regardless of the game genre, no-one does it better then England's own Rareware. They've proved it with platform games such as Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo Tooie, with racing games like Diddy Kong Racing and Mickey's USA Speedway, and, of course, no-one does the shoot-em-up quite like Rare, just play Goldeneye if you don't believe me.

So Jet Force Gemini then. After receiving raving reviews in top magazines and on the net I decided to see what all the fuss was about, and within 5 minutes I was completely hooked on this stunning game.

A cross between a platform and a shoot-em-up, Jet Force Gemini is really like nothing else on earth. Set in another galaxy, you take the parts of Juno and Vela, twin humans, and their canine sidekick, Lupus.

The game, as we've come to expect from Rare, is stunning to look at. Set across a dozen different planets, each one holds it's own special 'look', with seemingly endless hallways and huge open spaces perfect for those tense shoot outs. Howvere, with the cartoony graphics comes the gore.

Your enemy is Mizar. A huge insect hellbent on killing all the cute furry Tribals and taking over the world. The aim of the game is to free EVERY tribal and stop the evil ants who serve Mizar, and this is where the fun starts. After killing an ant body parts, limbs and alien blood will fly everywhere, covering the screen in a green goo. It looks even better when you 'inadvertantly' kill a Tribal!

Onto the control system. At first it seems very tricky, and it is, but with time it becomes very easy. Using a similar approach to the wildly succesful Goldeneye, the R Should Button is used for aiming, Z for shooting and A and B to scroll through weapons. Left and Right C sidestep, and Up C is jump.

This is gaming as it should be. Glorious to look at, so easy to play, perfect controling and a great
plot.

Jet Force Gemini is addictive gaming.
