Good game, but... (Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask (N64))
Advantages: Good graphics & storyline, nicely thought out Disadvantages: Dissapointing final boss and ending
When Zelda: Majora's Mask came out, I was one of the first to buy it, and between me and my boyfriend, we must have been playing it practically all day. Even though, it was a bit disappointing to have finished it within about 3-4 days, if I pay £50 for a game, I do expect it to give me at least 2-4 weeks of playing time (depending on how much time I spend on it). Graphics are great, story line is good, and many old friends from the other Zelda games are, once again, present in this one. Unfortunately the fact that the Zelda team got pulled off the project near the end of the game to start work on the new GBA or Game Cube game (I can never remember for which one it is) is painfully obvious. If you have got all 20 masks and get the Firey Deity Mask off the kid in the end together with a bottle of Chateau Romani for unlimited magic, the final boss becomes rediculously easy... easier than most of the dungeon bosses for that matter! Anyone who played Ocarina of Time will remember how much of a sod Ganondorf was to kill, but this time, 5 minutes and it's all over... first time round! I'd still say the game is worth buying, just for the gameplay, consitency of the storyline, and all the little extras that have made Zelda cool, but do expect an "is that it??!" when you finish it. It's a shame, but there you go. Alternatively, you could just not use the Firey Deity Mask at the end, which would probably make it a bit more difficult and fun to beat the final boss. Summary: |
