Advantages: Fun, Challenging, Playable
Disadvantages: Tricky
Many big magazine critics have given this game 90%+ and to be honest I would not be one to disagree. This game dishes out just as much fun as the lately released Mario Tennis and has quite a lot to boast about. The best factor of the game is that there is not a main 1-player mode, there are many different ways to play and all are just as much fun as each other. You can play a match mode, skins mode, mini-golf and many others all of which are great fun and see Mario and co. at their very best! The game, Like Mario tennis makes you work long and hard for extra characters and courses and despite the fact that there are only 6 courses in total this is plenty seeing as you need to earn yourself loads of course points by beating the computer quite a number of times. All the courses are trademarked by their owner, Shy Guy has a desert and Toad and Yoshi amongst others have their own special courses that are designed perfectly and are all completely unique. To get extra characters you have to earn them, you have to 'get them' you can play against the character you want and if you successful beat them they are yours to treasure forever. Each character has his/her own strengths and weaknesses. For instance Mario has one hell of a drive but he pays for it as his shots suffer from the wind more that Charlie’s who has only a 210 yard drive compared to Mazza's whopping 260! Bowser and a few other characters can't just be ‘got’; they can only be accessed by getting a certain number of stars through games such as ring-shot mode. With this the game takes different holes and puts rings around the course and you have to hit your ball through the rings, but if you don’t get a Par as well as getting you ball through all the rings there is no star for you and no star means no extra characters.... and that IS a bad thing! Over all the game boasts great last-ability, great graphics and just like Mario tennis it incorpora
tes the official rules of the game very well as well as sprinkling the game play with that incomparable Mario fun! A great attempt from Camelot they certainly have got this one…down to a tee!
