Advantages: Fun, Gameplay, Missions, Multiplayer, Storyline
Disadvantages: (Graphics, Sound) - Old Game
Perfect Dark for the N64 was one of the best games. It has pretty good graphics, which can be enhanced with correct RGB cables and the gameplay is excellent. There are loads of levels to fight your way through.
The unique thing about this game is that you play as a woman - Joanna Dark. You work as an agent and the different levels take you through some great settings such as tall buildings and vast outside areas. You must complete objectives and missions in order to settle fighting between the Skedar and Maians. The storyline is quite good and it's your typical futuristic first person shooter with aliens involved.
As well as the solo player, you can do a multiplayer, which is really fun. You can play deathmatch games, capture the flag, hold the briefcase, king of the hill, hacker central and pop a cap. It's really exciting to play with friends doing the multiplayer. Hacker Central has to be my favourite, where you have to locate a data uplink and use it to hack computers. It's quite funny as you can't use weapons whilst hacking so you are vulnerable to attack.
There are loads of missions too, which can be done through co-op, which are really fun. They get harder and harder and you soon end up having to fight aliens together, which are really powerful with strong guns. It's a great challenge and gave the game a lot more gameplay. As for the sound, it's actually not bad but if you compare it to modern-day games, it's quite poor.
If you still have an N64, I'd recommend getting this game as it can look alright with the correct cables and it's still really fun to play. On amazon.co.uk, there are currently many used and new versions but they're selling for £7.38 despite how old the game is! I imagine this is because it's such a great game and was so popular. I'd recommend trying it out if you have an N64 as there is loads of gameplay and it's fun to play.
Thanks for reading,
