I'm no Pokemon fan (in fact I'm yet to work out exactly how the card game works!) but this game is fun!
What I do know however is that the Pokemon craze is far from over judging by the crowds of kids who gather round anyone found selling anything to do with Pokemon.
Pokemon Snap is an original game, and that's why I like it. True, it doesn't sound all that on the box, but play it for 10 minutes and you're hooked (for a while anyway).
The game involves your character taking an "on-the-rails" ride through different landscapes armed only with a camera! All around you, different types of Pokemon go about their business, leaping from bushes and running around.
Your job is to capture the best pictures you can of these Pokemon. You are in a vehicle which moves along rails through the Pokemon Park at a set rate, so you have to be quick! What you soon learn is that there is a lot going on, and there is no way of capturing decent pictures on your first run. In fact it takes many, many runs to get a picture of all Pokemon on any given level. Later on, you're given apples and other Pokemon goodies to lure them towards you.
At the end of each "journey", you're given points for accuracy, style and interest for each of your pictures. You must decide which pictures to submit and you can compare your new pictures with your old ones to see which is best.
It all adds up to a lot of addictive fun! Capturing the Pokemon in different states is always good for your score, and certain pokemon react differently to different items. E.g. throw an apple at one of the Pokemon and they fizz and bubble before exploding. Capture THAT on film and watch the points roll in!
All in all, I enjoyed this game a lot. I have no idea what these Pokemon are called or what they do. But it is fun trying to get them all in your Photo Album and seeing what different things they will do in different situ
Perhaps this game doesn't have a long game life, so perhaps I would suggest picking it up second hand if you can.
