Advantages: You get to beat up all the best N64 characters, easy to control, great gameplay

Disadvantages: Single player gets boring after a while

The person who thought up the idea of smash brothers was a mastermind. The game uses the whole Nintendo crew including characters like Mario, Donkey Kong, Link and so on, fighting against each other in the biggest scrap of the century!!! Once again Nintendo have created a game, which is truly superb!!!

It may sound like an ordinary beat em up game but I think it is above that. There is no health or energy bar where when it runs out you die, but instead a damage bar where the more you get hurt the further you fly through the air when hit. When the energy bar gets too high you can be punched, kicked or throw off the edge and fall into oblivion only to come back for revenge on most settings.

However this depends on what setting you have the game on because as well as having different skill levels the game also has a stock setting which determines how many times you can come back for revenge.

As well as this function on single player, on multiplayer you have a time setting, which is basically a time limit for how long the match lasts. During this time you can get thrown off and come back for revenge as many times as you want. The time limit can be set up to 20mins or unlimited time.

During the matches there are pick me ups which come down from the sky, which add to the fun and excitement of the game. These objects can be all sorts of things such as a sword, a laser gun, a fire flower, a pokemon ball, a tomato that makes your damage bar back to zero and so on.

Each character in the game are well known Nintendo characters, which all have there own set of individual moves, and all the normal characters have there own fighting arena’s which you have to battle them in on single player. In multiplayer you can just choose where you fight or select an arena at random.

Just like Nintendo games smash brothers is packed with extra goodies that you find as you go through the game. When you first visit the character sel
ect screen you will notice that four boxes are filled up with static. And if you watched the intro carefully you would have seen four shadows appear at the end. These are the secret characters, which you can unlock through the game. The secret characters are jigglypuff, luigi, captain falcon and a small boy called Ness.

But wait there’s more!!!! Once you have unlocked all the secret characters you will be able to open the secret fighting stage. All you have to do is complete the game on any level with all the characters, (after unlocking the secret four) and then tadaaaaa!!!! You have access to the mushroom kingdom, the home of the very first Mario game!!!

All in all this is a great game. The single player is good but the game excels in multiplayer. It is the perfect, hilarious alternative for those sick of shoot em ups.

It’s a great game and I would recommend it to anyone.
