This is the third installment of the highly acclaimed turok series from acclaim! You play a turok, the dinosaur hunter, but this time you don't play 'missions' as such. The whole game is set in a multiplayer environment, each mission being more like a deathmatch.
You must work your way along the paths for each character, and earn goodies and weapons along the way. There are 4 bosses on each characters path, but each character has different weapons, so this makes it interesting. Some are plain deathmatches, others team deathmatches, capture the flag and 'animal tag'. In animal tag mode, one of the players is a monkey. The other [layers have to kill the monkey before it reaches a transform point, then another player becomes the monkey. The first to ? monkey kills wins!
There are earnable cheats on this game, but also type-in ones, for when it gets too tough.
This game also has an up to 4 player multiplayer mode, where you can play any of the scenarios from the single player, in a wide range of arenas, with lots of characters to chose from, and you chose your own weapons!
Moving onto the weapons, they come in 4 groups: bullet, energy, explosives etc. and each group has a load of guns in it. Energy ammo will only work in energy guns, so make sure you've got the right ammunition!
There is the emaciator, draining peoples life force, rocket launcher, crossbow, shotgun, freeze gun, minigun and napalm gun, along with many more.
The graphics are excellent, especially with an expansion pack, but the sounds are very annoying. Enemies 'grunt' when shot!
It is very playable, with a large replay value, mainly as you may have missed a lot of bonuses, needed to open time trial and frag modes.
It will not really get you addicted, though you will still enjoy playing it. a must for any shoot-em-up, Turok or gore fan!!!
