Advantages: Amazing graphics

Disadvantages: Can be difficult

Waverace 64 was one of the first games I played when I got my N64 all those long years ago - and I still remember being blown away by the graphics when I booted it up. I know the N64 is getting on a bit in terms of gaming technology, bt it can still hold it`s own in my opinion.

When you first boot the game up and see the Jetski`s racing over the waves, with the incredible water effects, you wonder just how it is being done. It doesn`t look absolutely realistic, but it deffinately comes very close.

When you start playing the game you fall off constantly because the controls aren`t very easy to get to grips with, but you`ve seen the demos and heard about how good it is so you carry on trying your hardest to figure it all out. Then, all of a sudden, it clicks and you suddenly become a star jetskier, pulling stunts like you wouldn`t beleive. Barrel rolls, 360 degree vertical flips, dives, handstands and even standing on the front of the jetski looking backwards while riding are some of the easier stunts you can do. If you get very good you can do 720 degree flips and double barrel rolls - and it is possible to do a triple barel roll, although I`ve never managed it myself.

This game was amazing when it first came out, and now that yuo can buy it for next to nothing in the shops you`d be a fool not to get it. It has a bit of a steep learning curve but you really won`t mind that once you start playing.
