Advantages: A nice colourful non-violent game for younger gamers

Disadvantages: too easy and a bit babyish

This is probably one of the few 2D plat formers that I played on the N64, though it was quite entertaining when I was younger I am now finding it slightly babyish and a little too easy.
The plot is pretty simple baby bowser steals a super happy tree from the land of Yoshi's and happiness leaves the land leaving everyone sad. Six new Yoshi's are born at this time and take it upon them to get the tree back and return joy to the land.
You pick your colour of Yoshi to play each one having a favourite fruit depending on its colour which gives you bonuses; there is also a super happy fruit for each play through which gives you twice as many points as any other fruit eaten.

There are also two secret Yoshi eggs which can be discovered a white one and a black yoshi, these Yoshis are special as they can eat pretty much anything including bad tasting enemies which regular yoshi can't eat. They also receive extra points for everything they eat.

If you manage to find a white shyguy then you can return a dead yoshi to your team, your health is measured in flower petals at the top of the screen which is powered by fruit. Ideally to get a perfect score you want to find every single melon in each level.

There are six zones and four levels within each zone only one which can be played each run through, they get increasingly more difficult as you move from 1-4.

The graphics and visuals are colourful and very attractive 8/10

The longevity of the game is very short and can be completed in under a few hours, though you can go through different level combinations each time to get a high score, or once you complete a level in story mode you can go back and play it on its own to get a high score. 6/10. However it seems too easy.

Audio is very cute but also quite babyish 6/10

The game play is simple and a bit too easy at times 6/10

The plot is boring and predictable it also doesn't have a lot to it 5/10

62% overall

Summary: Still a good play for young kids
