Advantages: Lots to do providing hours of gameplay, great storyline
Disadvantages: None
I would have to go out on a limb before I even begin writing this review and say that I'm not normally a huge game player but this game easily is one of the best I've ever played if not one of the best ever made.
Set in the fictional land of Hyrule, you play as Link in this one player adventure game. It is Link's destiny to protect a sacred relic known as the triforce from falling into the hands of Gandorf - the game's major villain. Being one of the only Nintendo games to move from day to night [though fairly quickly] and even though Link never leaves the land of Hyrule throughout the game there's so many places to visit along the way.
A big must for fans of fantasy games everything about 'The Ocarina Of Time' is just perfect from the interesting and exciting storyline to the variety of characters you meet on your journey to the music, graphics and lay out of each of the main dungeons the game puts many of today's releases to shame.
Starting off as a child Hyrule is a peaceful happy land and Link's only concern is gathering three stones that will enable him entrance to the Sacred Realm where the Triforce is kept, however things soon turn very bad as Hyrule becomes a nightmarish hell and Gandorft seizes the triforce for himself. Link ages 7 years becoming a young adult and now has to truly kick up his quest to save Hyrule by awakening the six sages and ultimately saving Princess Zelda.
The game kept me busy for days - even after you've defeated the final villain there's so much more to do and often involves traveling back and forth through time using the Orcarina Of Time. If you're looking for a game that will definately challenge you then this is perfect for you and requires a lot of intelligence and wit to get through. I'd reccomend saving your game as often as possible as the later dungeons are so complex I many a times did something in the wrong order and completly messed up the whole thing though the game serves its purpose and successfully pulls you into a different world and is easily the best game of the 'Zelda' series.
One thing I never understood however was why the game was named after Zelda when she does nothing but run around disguised for the latter half of the game and ultimately gets herself captured leaving Link to do all the hard work...
Summary: A must for every major gaming fan. If you haven't played it before - shame on you!

- 15/07/08 this is the best game I've ever played :) and i think its named after Zelda because the whole series is. I'm guessing she had a bigger part in the first one. |
