Advantages: Gameplay, Puzzles, Fighting fun, Interactive world, funny characters, big evil monsters, Goosebumps when you start up (Zelda fans only)

Disadvantages: You may become antisocial as a result of playing it too long, Addictive, You'll get Hal-life syndrome (wanting to save before using the dishes so that you can go back to them being clean afterward)

Take a 3D world, sprinkle some people, add a third person perspective, add a storyline, add some cool effects, allow saving of progress, add some huge castles stock filled with puzzles and fighting, and you have Zelda 64. Or so some people would say. Other people, myself included, might have said something like "oh my god, its Zelda in 3D", which is what they wanted us to say. The truth is that this game is a very good start in the direction of new games. Sure it has some problems to do with the camera, responsiveness to the joypad, funny looking people (heheh ok ignore that last one), but the crux of the game is based around the storyline, and exploring a huge interactive world, based on the Zelda theme. The castles are very big and will take a long time to complete, and there is a lot of originality in the game (one castle is set in a huge fish's stomach!). The game feels from the offset very real - in many places a fixed camera location is used as Link runs around, giving the feeling that the viewer is standing and watching the action from the side. The character interaction wasn't as much as I'd hoped for - lots of characters had no input into the game at all in fact, whereas in other places within the game, every character had input. The side quests were fun and imaginative, I particularly enjoyed the message in a bottle sequence, but there were lots of other sequences that I felt could have been far more in depth. Still, there has to be said something for that feeling that you get the first time that you switch the machine on, enter a name and then wake link up - the music is absolutely perfect for the setting, the feeling of the little elf woodland is amazing, and I swear I got goosebumps when I started running around the 3D world for the first time. However, this feeling will wear off, but what is left behind is a hugely addictive game, with lots of character and of course puzzles to solve! Buy this game if purely for the goosebumps fee
ling, and to all you non-Zelda fans, try this game - and then go back to Metal Gear solid and playstation and think, hmmm, somethings missing...
Top notch stuff.
