Appearing on the X Box 360, PS3 and the PC, Assassin's Creed is definitely one of the most celebrated video game titles of the past couple of years, with its unique medieval Middle-East setting, compelling storyline, beautiful visuals and freeform gameplay. Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles is essentially the DS version of this game. Now, on the plus side, Altair's Chronicles does not try to be a straight port of the console game - obviously there are technological limitations here. This game is in a very different style, more a straightforward platformer than anything else. Gameplay mainly consists of leaping from rooftop to rooftop, walking along ... Read the complete review

Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles, from what I understand, is the prequel to the console version of the title Assassin's Creed. However, just a few screenshots from both titles alert you immediately to the fact that while the games share the same name, they're drastically different. Altair's Chronicles is not a free-roaming, beautiful-looking title in which you pretty much do as you please and kill who you want. I looked forward to buying this game, having a passion for the periods surrounding the crusades. In one respect Assassins creed is a good game. Its not too taxing and flows fairly easily. The levels allow for increases in skills and call for external tasks outside of main game play including skill games such as picking pockets. And for the first couple of times the game was enjoyable. However, after a short amount of time the games lack of taxing levels and play becomes dull. Repeated running and climbing walls lacks the imagination needed for the game to be great or even better than good. Assassination techniques are wooden and would possibly be better suited to ... I rented this game to accompany the Assassin's Creed game for Playstation 3. The game is a prequel to it and is great fun gut not the best game to buy. The game isn't as good as the console version with some problems. The graphics aren't really very good and could be improved which would make it alot better. The game has lots of slowdown but the soundtrack could also be improved. This game feels like it was rushed to fit in with the full game and would benfit from some extra development time. The sound is very good and has a great soundtrack. Overall, the game is fun to play but it has many negatives which ruin the ... Read the complete review
