Advantages: MASSIVE EIGHT PLAYER MULTIPLAYER MODE, Variety of levels, items, modes
Disadvantages: Repetitive, Singleplayer a bit boring
Bomberman is a game that isn't the same price range as the other top games, it is cheaper.
The gameplay hasn't changed much since the very first Bomberman game - you'll still find those familiar items and characters
So, when you see the single player, you could be disappointed at the boring repetitiveness of your character walking around a rectangle grid collecting powerups and dropping bombs and hiding behind solid blocks.
The single player isn't great. There is a sort of storyline with some bosses, but it wasn't too good. The save system can be frustrating as you can only save after every section with a boss. You can quick save after every round, but it's annoying. The singleplayer isn't particularly terrible, it's just that it's well... it feels pretty basic and not exciting or inspired.
So, when you get to the multiplayer you might be a bit disappointed after finding the single player mode. Then you realize - Wait, did it say eight player? Yes it did! This game features local wireless multiplayer for up to eight people (you can have a mix of CPU players instead of real players if you want) This is where the fun is at - with the different levels including some voice activated ones or ones where you start off really fast or with powerful bombs, it really is fun when you go against seven of your friends, it really is amazingly fun.
The game doesn't really make much good use of the touch screen, but the sound is pretty good, and having manic bomb throwing fun with the various multiplayer modes is one of the best experiences you'll have on the DS, believe me. If you don't play the battle mode with multiple players or at least with bot players, you're missing out on a lot!
Summary: The multiplayer mode is what makes this game great to play.
