Advantages: noticeable results - especially with mental maths!

Disadvantages: voice recognition can be poor

Now I personally really like this game. But first I want to clear up that I don't think it's for all ages as it seems to make out. We bought my grandad a nintendo ds and brain training for his birthday (he is 70) and I really don't think he got the hang of it at all. He is perfectly capable of basically everything, but I think the technology side of this baffled ihm a bit. So I think maybe it's best leaving this game from that age market? He gave me this when he'd got sick of trying with it so just a warning for anyone present hunting for the elderly!
But as for my verdict, I think it's a really good programme.By creating your own profile and being able to track your progress (most people start with a really bad brain age! mine is 20 now :)) it makes you want to keep up with it and as the games are only a few minutes maximum each, it isn't difficult to keep up with it on a daily basis even if you just do a challenge or two. Also, there's the option of sudoku puzzles if you just want something to do, which I think is a good time waster! I do think that the training aspect of it does work - Iknow that the calculations have improved my mental arithmatics significantly!
The only problem I would give to the challenges is that the voice operated ones, such as the colour test (a colour word such as 'blue' appears and you have to state what colour it is in) can be a bit inaccurate as it doesn't recognise accents very well - it takes a while to work out how to say each colour in a way that registers! But once you've cracked that it's not too problematic.
I really enjoy brain training and think that it does really help your mind keep active. Wouldn't recommend it for the technophobics though!

Summary: a good workout for the brain
