Brain Training (DS)
Advantages: Works for some people
Disadvantages: To much maths
Playing games is always a great pleasure if they are good in many areas but I like to try new things. I had never played Brain Training for a long period of time and this is my experience and more information about the game.
This game is meant to give you an insight into how old your brain is. This is done by how good you are at playing some of the activities they have for you to play. If you are very good and achieve high scores and times you are going to achieve a better brain age.
One of the first things you do is conduct a brain age and you do these with a few simple exercises and once done you are given an age and your aim to make that age much lower then it currently is.
One of the games you can play on this is 20 calculations where you are given random sums which change everytime you play and you need to write in the answer quickly. This game requires plenty of patience as the numbers you write do not always appear as you would hope.
You have many other types of games and sadly the majority involve some sort of maths and if you do not like that subject this game might perhaps put you off. You have triangle maths where you have a triangle with some numbers inside but some are missing and you need to place the right number there.
Again this is a maths game but it tests your knowledge and you do get quicker over time. I think the game could have done with more variety because maths is a good topic and some people do struggle but why not add science perhaps or English. I think this would have made more sense to test various areas of the brain.
Thankfully help is at hand if your bored there is Sudoku puzzles to play, oh yes the maths theme continues even further. In terms of what the game format is you play a few games each day and you get marked on a calendar.
You turn up more and more and you unlock new games and it is just you turning up and once all games are unlocked thats it really. You can take a brain age check whenever you wish but to be honest I have not seen a vast improvement.
My age was 50 and it has gone down to 30 but the problem is I have not gained any knowledge from what I knew before so does the game really work ? This might be for others to answer my view it does not.
The game speed is a problem with the writing of numbers but I have noticed if I type quickly I might be making errors myself and if I type much slower these problems never show up so perhaps this is me and the game.
I would say play it because some might experience better results but for me this is not worth the time and effort.
Summary: May Not Work
