I'd played this game on playstation and the move to DS doesn't disappoint!
Its a simple yet addictive bubble popping game where you aim to make groupss of like coloured bubbles, which then pop. The touch screen is well used with a catapult system that is great fun!
The music is cheesy, squeaky and yet somehow warming and the graphics are great for the game...they aren't the best in the world but exactly what you would want of this game!
The game features different modes - puzzle, endless and vs. In puzzle, you have a series of different screens to clear, in which you are timed. Endless is simply that, you can keep on firing bubbles until you die (the bubbles hit the line at the bottom of the screen). It keeps a bubbs score which you can then try to beat next time.
However, where this game really excels though is in multiplayer (VS) mode. Getting to play with other friends via the download play fature is great fun,and the game allows you to fire bubbles onto opponenets screens (especially fun if you dont explain to them how to start with! - makes for good looks on their faces)
overall what is great is they have stayed true to the original game, and not tried to jazz it up beyond its brilliant simplicity.
Warning! Warning! This game is very addictive. Please only read on if you want to spend hour upon hour on your Nintendo DS. If you search around for Bust A Move you can pick it up for around £10. I purchased mine pre-owned for £7.99 in Game. It offers a superb single player mode, but also wireless play for 2-5 players with a single copy of the game. It also support multi-card play. This game is rated for ages 3+.
The graphics are simple yet effective. The music bounds along to encourage you to keep on trying, though this can be irritating sometimes. What makes this game a winner is the totally addictive gameplay. They say that the simplest ideas are often the best. Well, you can't get much simpler than this.
With the two screens on the Nintendo DS, the top half is occupied by colourful bubbles. In the bottom half, you have your catapult. Using the touch screen you aim and launch your coloured bubbles. The idea is to stick them in the right area of the top screen, so that three (or more) bubbles of the same colour touch. If they do, then those bubbles disappear. Aim high and you can cause an avalanche. Clear the screen and you progress onto the next level. As all this is going on, more bubbles are added to the top screen. It also moves down towards the finish line. If the bubbles cross the line, you lose.
There is also a puzzle mode. Where the bubbles are arranged in a particular pattern. You have to clear the screens in the least possible number of moves. This is challenging and really gets you thinking.
To add value, the multiplayer mode is frantic. Popping you bubbles makes extra ones land on your opponents screen. You must work fast, so that your opponents bubbles cross their line first. Wicked fun.
This game is simple, but is so addictive that it really is an essential purchase for your Nintendo DS. You can pick it up for a quick ten minute go, which is how this sort of game should be.
I had never heard of Bust A Move until my friend came to stay and as soon as i played it I was hooked!! I thought that the games were all very challenging and got you thinking where to catapult the next ball to in a short space of time. The effects are brilliant and very clear.
You can have 2 Ds' connected at the same time so you can play multiplayer games which are very addictive!! Me and my friend were up for hours trying to beat each other.
If you like good strategy games then you will love Bust A Move. It will keep you entertained for hours on end and you will not get bored. You can play the endless game that could go on forever - depending on how good you are!!!
So as i have said, if you want a good strategy game, go out and buy Bust A Move!
i have played bust a move on several systems now but the ds version has to be the best. that is because the way in which it is controlled. the aim of the game is to get three of the same colour bubbles in a row. in the ds version you cattapult the bubbles up to the puzzle useing the touch screen. the sensitivity of the cattapult is perfect and with sectet charecters to unlock there are many hours of play.
Bust a move has finally arrived on DS! New and improved graphics, new levels, new characters and a brand new interface. The huge potential of the DS' touch screen has been fully implemented. Now you can touch the screen and choose the direction of the bubbles with your bare hands! Aim and shoot with your fingers!
