Having played Cake Mania on a website online. Not sure if i'm allowed to mention it?. It was Zylom.com It's basically about Jill, and she is wanting to raise enough money to buy her grandparents bakery. Aim of the game is too serve customers with the exact type of cake they want. Firstly you hand them a menu, then you wait till a speech bubble comes up with the cake type they want. Say they want a circle red iced cake with a little ship on top. You'd go to the oven, and press the circle button, wait till the cake is baked, pick it up, ice it with red, then take it to the ship decorating section, and add the ship, then take the finished cake all ...  Read the complete review

I have always been a fan of Cake Mania on the PC so when I spied a version for my DS it was inevitable I was going to buy it. Cake Mania is a time management game where effectively you have to complete tasks in the time available to you to be able to progress further in the game. As you go further into the game, the tasks get harder and more complicated in the same amount of time provided to complete them. It can get quite challenging but is a good achievement if you manage to complete it. ** Storyline ** Jill is taking over her grandparents failing bakery business. As she has just completed her culinary course she is the perfect person to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Cake Mania (DS): Chocolate Cake? Angel Cake? Sponge Cake? Gateau? (402 words)

It's no secret to my family and friends that I'm a big fan of cakes. It's for this reason that a handheld video game based entirely around cakes caught my eye. Partly due to this, and partly due to my unexpected enjoyment of the Gordon Ramsey cooking game, I picked up Cake Mania. The premise is, you run a cake shop, and you absolutely MUST sell lots and lots of cakes to compete with the big supermarket that's opened up nearby. So it's time to bake bake bake. There are two main views, which are the kitchen and the shop. In the shop, you encounter your customers, who will request annoyingly specific cakes that you then have to make in the kitchen. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review lets bake some cakes (414 words)

Well this game is fantastic and well worth the money. The game Jill grew up helping out in her grandparents' bakery which inspired her to go to culinary school. However she returns after graduation to find that her grandparents have been evicted as their landlord has sold the property to MegaMart. Jill vows to earn enough to buy back the family bakery and this is where the game starts. Customers come in and you give them a menu, when they've selected the shape and colour of the cake, you bake it and ice it for them. Later in the game you can also add decorations or bake double-layer cakes. You start with supermarket deliverymen but soon you'll have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Cake Mania (DS): This one could have stayed in the oven a little longer... (1033 words)

Have you ever been to a bakery before? I mean a real bakery, where they make all the stuff on the premise, and you can go upstairs and watch men in white aprons bake huge, fancy cakes to be later sold at an exorbitant price. I, for one, have always been fascinated by such spectacles. It's people like me, then, that games like Cake Mania are likely geared toward. Originally a popular PC game, Cake Mania has now been ported to the Nintendo DS. My one biggest gripe with Cake Mania for the DS is simply the fact that there's nothing much that's all that impressive. Many games, at least within the first hour or so, show some sort of potential. Perhaps the graphics ...  Read the complete review
