Advantages: easy to follow

Disadvantages: lack of recipes

There's no doubting that the idea of just sticking in a DS cartridge into your console and switching it on for an in kitchen cooking experience isn't desirable. The problem is that the recipes provided are quite basic. I would say that this is a great gift for those you aren't really avid cooks who like to experiment with flavours as it is a bit restricted and there is nothing to exciting on offer. I wouldn't really buy this myself as I genuinely find a cookbook easier to use.

It should also be noted that frequently when cooking one's hands get dirty and having to move around a DS to avoid it getting caught in the over boil from a pan, is far from desirable. Sometimes it doesn't hear your commands either which is just annoying and totally defeats the object of the game.

I would give this as a gift to a student leaving home for the first time who needs a helping hand in the kitchen, or perhaps somebody who is learning to cook. It is certainly no replacement for a cookery book but is a bit of fun and definitely one to try if you haven't yet.

Summary: great for people who aren't into experimental cookery
