Advantages: Very attractive with many recipies and easy to use
Disadvantages: Images given always look better than your finished product, expensive
Nintendo have begun to release a new line of shall we say, "Games" that don't function that most entertaining games do. This Cooking guide is quite literally an electronic cooking guide so to speak.
You don't play it for entertainment but to learn and improve your cooking skills. Great for the beginner cook who can't fry and egg to save their life, the average everyday cook and the master chef! It has simple to hard recipes and with over 250 to choose, from a wide range of cultures and food types there's an endless amount of choice for any taste bud.
The guide is a simple tool instead of a game, it functions smoothly and simple with not too many advanced options and settings making it easy to pick up and use, especially for those who aren't very tech hype. Reading a regular cooking book can be drag and boring, however the Cooking Guide is a colourful and interesting new twist to learning making ideas and steps more redeemable for the future and makes cooking overall a lot more guided making your dish always one grade better then it would have been without a useful guide.
The guide itself is simple and breaks down the main sections and points into steps where you follow them chronologically making cooking a simple task if you follow the given tutorial. Also if you know how to cook to opens up your mind to a wider range of food out there instead of chips and bacon every dinner time.
However using it I did discover some drawbacks which may only I find bad personally but this is for you to decide. I saw straight off from the front cover the glorious mouth watering food displayed across the box and in the game itself making all the food be made to perfection. However the food you actually produce will probably not look as good as what's on the box, don't fret though! Just pointing out for some people who think they can use this guide once to get as good as some of the expert chefs which were used to cook the food you see in game. Practise makes perfect even with a guide!
The other point that bugs me is the ridiculous price put with such a simple tool. It isn't a game and is more of an interactive book which in my eyes isn't worth as much. But in shops it's been tagged with a market price of 25 pounds in most places which is a ridiculous price for what it is. Apart from these factors the guide is well worth getting and is a great investment in the end over the price tag.
Summary: Worth a buy for any class of cook, begginer to master!
