AVAILABILITY
This game proved to be hugely popular upon its release back in December 2006. I bought mine from an ebay auction for around £9 but it is available online and at all good gaming shops. It is currently on sale at Game for £19.99 which is rather steep for a game that is so old.

GAMEPLAY
Mama gives you a number of recipes to follow and learn how to cook. You begin with a set number of recipes available to you and then unlock more and more as you proceed with the game. She gives you step by step instructions as to what to do such as 'slice the onion finely' and you use your DS stylus in order to follow the instructions given. Providing you make it to the end of the recipe, Mama will give you a medal depending on how well you did. In addition to this there are also mini games such as cooking for the family with no prompts given. The game is in cartoon mode and I must stress it is not like a recipe cookbook and far more like a game.

MY OPINION
I bought this game after I had bought Cooking Mama 2 and I think that the graphics and gameplay on the 2nd version are far superior to this. Mama will often tell you you are doing things wrong despite following her instructions to the letter and a number of the instructions are hard to follow and not explained well. However, I would recommend this game as it is fun and the number of different recipes means you are not stuck on one thing for long. All the family will enjoy this game.
