Just to make the publisher's claims even worse, there then comes the question of the three difficulty levels which the game is advertised to have. It would appear that these difficulty levels are all exactly the same, as it seems to make no difference to the complexity of the questions asked. If you were hoping for a set of questions suitable for say a younger child, then you'd be very disappointed. The questions that you are asked are rid...more

Premium Review Can the Nintendo DS and Crosswords replace puzzle magazine? (587 words)
by - written on 21/07/09 (Very useful, 8 readings)
Rating:

This review is for the Nintendo DS game, Crosswords, developed by Nuevo Retro Games and published by Deep Silver. Crosswords is an educational and entertainment word based game. There is a different, and much better, version available in the United States, and this review relates to the UK edition. Essentially this game is a crossword game, with 2,700 crosswords to complete across five different subjects. Well, this is what the documentation says, but there are actually only around 500 puzzles in five different languages. Well I got this game a while ago now and I think I've played it 3 or 4 times, I had to put it away before I started asking someone to get me a DUNCE hat! Maybe its just me missing it but NOWHERE on the case for this game does it say you have to a GENIUS to play! I honestly could not get through even one of the puzzles on the easy level! And after consulting the rest of the family (who I might add are not daftest people around) I came to the conclusion this game is impossible! How bad is it that 4 adults cannot complete a single crossword on the easy level! Hahaha (I dare not look at the difficult level for fear I would go ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Crosswords DS - Awful! (173 words)
by - written on 26/01/09 (Useful, 12 readings)
Rating:

A couple of months ago I went through a strange phase of being obsessed by crosswords. The other half started to get fed up with me having crossword magazines all over the flat, so he bought me this for the DS instead. I've played it twice, and now it's sat gathering dust. The game is simple enough, it's just a load of crosswords - great, I thought, I'd have hourse of entertainment - oh how wrong was I. I don't claim to be a literary genius, but I'm not exactly illiterate either. Some clues were ok and average - some were just so obscure it'd be impossible to ever figure out the answer. I even sat down with an Oxford dictionary and Thesaurus to ...  Read the complete review
