Advantages: keeps you busy for hours
Disadvantages: It's very addictive
Diner Dash is surely one of the most addictive games available for the Nintendo DS. I bought this game for my daughter a while ago, but as soon as I started playing it, I could not put it down.
The Game -
The game is about a girl called Flo who owns her own diner and basically starts to progress the further into the game you get. When you start the game, it will show you how to get through the very first stage, then you are on your own. As you progress through the first diner it will obviously become more difficult, you have to try and seat people and serve them as quickly as you can, then you get families in and you have to get a high chair for the baby, if you dont do this quick enough you will earn less points. Each party will have 5 love hearts and the idea is to keep them fully red, they will gradually lose colour if you dont seat them quick enough or, serve quick enough etc. The parties will start coming quicker etc. In later stages you will have extras such as coffee, this will calm the impatient customers and their love hearts will start to fill up again, you also may have music to please the customers too.
There are 5 different restaurants each with 10 stages, once you complete the 10 stages of the first restaurant you will unlock a new restaurant and a new outfit for Flo to wear. and so on. If you complete 5 stages of any restaurant at Expert level then you will unlock the fifth restaurant but only 4 stages at a time. So it's best to strive for Expert level all the time.
My Opinion -
The game says it is suitable for children aged 3 an upwards, although they may initially enjoy it, I don't think it will keep there attention for very long as it can be quite tricky. I love this gave as it does get addictive, I just don't want to be beat, it has taken me a while and I have not completed it yet, but I have become quite good at it. It is certainly challenging and you can get annoyed with it but I could sit and play for a good hour. I love how it gets faster and more intense. I think this is more suited to adults or teenagers, my 7 year old will play it but gives up after a short time.
This game is currently available from amazon.co.uk from around 10 pounds.
Summary: A challenging game for grownups and older kids

- 16/02/09 My niece would like this - she likes all these kinds of games for the DS. I think they're a bit dull, to be honest. |
