      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Suitable for 3-5 years, any older and they will most likely find it boring.

After we bought my daughter a Nintendo DS for her fourth birthday present, one of the first games we bought was this Dora the Explorer saves the Snow Princess. It costs roughly £15 from Amazon.

The game has an adventure mode where it is a bit like a story and it begins with Dora telling a story and then it is simple stuff like trying to free a bird by touching the locks to break them and that frees the bird. It is fairly simple so a good game for the age range of 3-5, it will give simple instructions like to touch a blue bush and this helps the child to play fairly independantly without asking for help every few minutes unlike most other games.

The adventure mode is abit similar to the TV programme as in she follows a map to get to the destination and will encourage the children to say words into the microphone in order to do some tasks, she also helps them to practise some spanish words which makes it educational. There is also a task where they put shapes/numbers in order, and various other educational tasks. It also has the same characters as in the TV show and similar phrases such as 'Swiper stop swiping'.

I find the game can be completed fairly quickly and easily and soon the child does get bored. It encourages the child to shout, as sometimes Dora tells them to say a phrase and will keep saying 'louder, louder!'. This can be annoying when you want some peace and quiet or if you are thinking to buy this game to keep the child amused on a areoplane or a public place.

I have noticed my daughter can count to 5 in spanish now due to this game, as she has played it numerous times and it will keep her busy for approximately 15 minutes.

It also has an alternative mode where the child dresses a snowman up, and you look around for animals, also a colouring in mode where the child can draw their own pictures.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Great first game

Dora is a really popular and entertaining character that every 3 year old girl in the world seems to love.
My three year old is no exception so I bought this game for her and have had a good go on it.
The game uses the voice recognition feature on the ds to teach children basic spanish words. It also focuses on counting and memory skills as well as using the sylus to promote improvement of the fine moter skills.
The game is split into two parts you have the adventure game which is fairly similar to one of the dora shows you basically fulfill a variaty of simple tasks whilst working your way through the map all the way through this side of the game the dora charactor is telling a story also all instructions are pictorial or spoken so for small children who cannot read yet it makes it rally easy to plar.
The second side of the game is the quick games these are dressing a snowman, colouring in and hide and seek.
I do like this game but would have liked to see more content and istead of the child having to draw the pictures it would have been nice if there were a few already on there.
