Premium Review Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (DS): Just what my brain ordered (185 words)
by - written on 23/08/09 (Useful, 5 readings)

I got given this as a present so didn't have any preconceived ideas about it, so bored on an long train trip I decided to give it a go. I found it strangely addictive and found myself desperately trying to beat myself. The game has a collection of simple maths problem which are timed, word puzzles and logic/spacial problems. As you complete ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Good whilst it lasted (323 words)

This became very addictive for a while especially if you are a competetive person like me. I constantly wanted to beat my current age. Can also be a little degrading though and make you feel a little thick. The game consists of various different games and the speaking one in particular was not very good. The recognition of voices is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (DS): A good challenging game more for the grown ups. (254 words)
by - written on 16/08/09 (Useful, 11 readings)

I bought a DS for this game and I was not disappointed. I like the idea that you can find out just how old your brain is and then constantly try to improve your score to bring your brain age down. The more you play this game the faster your brain becomes and I found that after a very short time I could do the puzzles really quickly. Having to play ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Improve you brain power with the DS (487 words)

Brain training was one of the first real reasons I noticed the DS and decided to get one. It's well known that if you don't lose it, you lose it (ha!) and this is especially true with your brain. Research has shown that older people who remain mentally active i.e. playing chess etc, retain their brain functions longer, resulting in a better ...  Read the complete review

Brain Training is a game that many people get with their DS, and is very much a novelty. The game is essentially a series of mini games designed to test your skills in arithmetic, hand eye co-ordination and memory. There are a variety of different games such as calculating sets of 20 or 100 equations, reading a section of a book aloud, ...  Read the complete review

This game is utterly superb, there is just so much to do and whilst at first sight, this type of game might seem boring and mundane but I can gurantee you that once you pick up this game and try it for the first time only for it to tell you that your brain is about 89 years old, especially when you are only 19 you will stop at nothing to prove the ...  Read the complete review

I got this game with my Nintendo DS and started using it most nights just for 10 minutes or so and I did actually see a difference in my mind :-p Brain Training is a game which tells you the "age" of your brain by testing you on certain aspects, youi play the game on your Nintendo DS, and the game costs around £15-£20 ...  Read the complete review

This is a very good game. Not only does it encourage young people to improve their basic skills it also encourages the older generations to take advantage of more up to date technology. I have always been a bit of a game addict, and often find an excuse to 'use' my son's Ninetendo DS. I did order Brain training hoping it would encourage my son to practice his mental skills, but now I am totally addicted. I train everyday and make sure I do a brain age check, trying to maintain an optimum 20 years old! It is quite a hard and ...  Read the complete review

This was the beginning of all brain training exercises which started the brain training phenomena. This was the first game I got with my DS and found it very fun and exciting to begin with. There are a number of games and tasks and the more you progress, the more you unlock which holds the players interest well. There are a number of ...  Read the complete review

Brain Training is one of the first games that i would recommend to start with when you have first purchased your DS. It is a game i would recommend for adults more then children. It gives you a series of different brain challenges and then works out your brain age, however i found that it all depends on how you are feeling on the day you do it. This is exactly what the adverts states: How old is your brain? The daily 4 tests tell you what your brain age is. When you're not being tested, you have the opportunity to practice the individual 'games' to get better. It also has the opportunity to have 4 different accounts so the whole family can have a go without wiping off any other data. ...  Read the complete review

This was one of the first few DS games I got, and I absolutely loved it at first. I loved improving my age and scores every day, and unlocking the new "tests" as time passed. There's a nice little variety of tests, the ones that everyone will recognise such as sums and saying names of colours, and others such as head count and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (DS): The game that started the brain training revolution (461 words)
by - written on 15/05/09 (Very useful, 17 readings)

This is the game that kick-started the whole brain-training game boom. It helped the DS sell and get a foot in the door in a wide range of audiences and defined clearly what was one of DS's main design objectives: to enable players to enjoy games of previously unthinked-of genres in a simple, casual but addictive way. This game has both a ...  Read the complete review

Well, i must say that, if you wanted to be a little more alert than normal, drink a cup of coffe, and then play this. The game does, sort of, improve your general brain functions. The game offers many tasks that can train up your brain, and the tests consist of three tasks, some strangly annoying, then at the end rates your brain on how ...  Read the complete review

Dr Kawashima's Brain Training had a huge buzz around it when it was first released with the Nintendo DS console. Whilst there is no scientific evidence to say that these exercises can improve brain functionality, they are quite fun and certainly don't do any harm. The game usually sells for about £18-20 but is often included in 'bundles' when ...  Read the complete review
