Advantages: Epic and entertaining, at least twice as big as any other DS game out there
Disadvantages: Lacking a song soundtrack, stylus juggling in busy missions
I never expected too much from this game to start with. To me, the GTA world was very 3d, very alive, and I didn't believe the DS could deliver this. And often with DS versions, the games are just too darn short.
Boy was I wrong.
GTA:Chinatown Wars is THE saviour for us adults in a kiddy world Nintendo have keenly chosen to pull the DS into. The 18 rating is here for a reason folks! Providing you are of legal age, prepare yourself for a detailed, lengthy and exciting game.
Ok so the graphics are semi 3D, and are cartoony. There's very little listening and alot of reading. But considering the size of the DS cartridge, it's unbelievable that Rockstar have delivered more than 2/3 of the Liberty City we see in their last outing, GTA IV. The sounds are clear, the vehicles all unique, and the playing time long. I took around 20 hours to get through all the missions but the drug dealing game did sidetrack me a little, sorry Mum! Oh yeah and I had a little addiction with buying various scratch cards from the local shop, you can even blow the scratchings off the card, amazing! (I'm very easily pleased)
If you're looking for the usual GTA fun from the previous outings (including a bit of the original 2) all mixed together in a unique fashion, look no further. This is THE mature, epic and innovative DS game in an ever turbulent sea of trivial cooking and pet management games.
Summary: If you want epic, but violent, then buy this game now. Very cheap to buy online so act now!
