Advantages: great entertaining game

For Christmas this year I was given the limited edition Guitar hero Nintendo DS which comes with the Guitar Hero on Tour game, I was not disappointed this is a great game.

Guitar Hero is a game that has taken the world by storm and is available in a format for every games console. They have done really well to create the game on the DS, especially as they are unable to create a big guitar to connect to you DS to make you feel like a real rockstar. The guitar grip works well with the compact console and is great as you can take it anywhere, as all other guitar hero games on other consoles are bulky.

To use the Guitar Grip you insert it into the DS and you then hold the game horizontally and watch the notes scroll down on the top screen that you have to play. You then have to press the correct colour buttons at the correct time as you strum the touch screen, to get the best score you have to make sure that you do not miss any of the notes.

With various playing options from Single player career mode, Battle of the bands a game that has you putting out flaming notes by blowing into the microphone or signing autographs as you play or you can join a jam which enables you to play with or against a friend in wireless mode as you play together or take part in your own guitar duel against each other.

There are 26 tracks on this game including All the Small Things by Blink 182, Spider webs by No Doubt, Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet , Breed by Nirvana, Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield, This Love by Maroon 5, Jet Airliner by Steve Miller Band, Black Magic Woman by Santana, I Don't Wanna Stop by Ozzy Osborne and Knock Me Down by Red Hot Chilli Peppers are to name a few.

You can play in 'Quick play', 'Career Mode' or 'Guitar Duel'. With Different levels of difficulty from easy, medium and hard. The graphics are fantastic, I cannot imagine that they could get much better than this and the sound quality is not different to listening to a cd, they have done a great job with this game.

Overall I can't imagine them having done a better job with a first version.

The advantages to this game are

* A great all round enjoyable game.
* Different to a lot of other games.
* Compact to take anywhere.
* Various songs and modes to play.
* This is an addictive game.
* Great Graphics and Sound quality.

The disadvantages that I have found whilst playing this game are

*That my hand and fingers start to ache after playing a few songs so I have to put the console down and go back to it later, which is not good when you are enjoying yourself.

*I only know a few of the tracks, which I feel can take away from the enjoyment of playing as you cannot tap you feet and appreciate the song as much.

*The other problem I have with the console is that I find that sometimes the guitar grip moves whist I am playing, which bring up a prompt screen telling you to turn the DS on and off which means you lose the game, it could do with a clip so that it does not do it as its annoying.

*The hard mode on the game is really hard and I think it will take a while before I can complete a song at that level.

This is an entertaining game and is well worth the investment, it takes gaming to another level and with its retail price at around £30 with the guitar grip included it is worth it. There are newer guitar hero games with new tracks which are an investment I will be making soon.
