Advantages: Story, atmosphere, graphics
Disadvantages: Slow, linear
If you're not very good at computer games and you prefer reading a nice book, this might well be the computer game for you.
This game combines an unconventional gameplay style, requiring very little in the way of quick reflexes or hand-eye coordination, with a film noir atmosphere and storyline. If you play it for long then you will find yourself really desperate to solve the mystery behind Hotel Dusk and the central character's former police partner.
However, it does have its problems. The very linear nature of the story occasionally throws up inconsistencies - it can be a little frustrating to have a character only reveal something to you once you've done unconnected thing x.
Every now and then some of the things you have to do to move on require lateral thinking which verges on the illogical - a particular one with flour comes to mind, for those who've played part of the game.
Shortly, if you have time to devote to playing a game which feels more like a book and are unlikely to get frustrated with it, then this could be ideal for you. The graphic style is great and the slow gameplay is not a problem if you have the patience to sit there puzzling out small parts of the story.
However, if you usually play Shoot 'em ups and adventure games, Hotel Dusk: ROom 215 may leave you bored.
Summary: More like a detective novel than a game

Stunt 101 - 05/05/08 Welcome to Dooyoo.
If you want higher ratings you need to add more info on things like what you do in the game (e.g. is it a RPG, First Person Shooter or a Strategy game?), the graphics (e.g. is there any slowdown, how do the characters look and what do the environments look like), the sound (e.g. soundtrack, effects, voice acting etc.) and how much content there is (e.g. how long did it take you to finish, were there any side missions and was there online play?). If you need any more advice send me a PM. |
