Advantages: Storyline suited for younger children, recipes from different cultures.
Disadvantages: Dialogue basically kills this game, there's tons of it to go through.
Imagine Master Chef is a cooking game made for the nintendo DS, somewhat similar to the Cooking Mama series. Imagine Master Chef is also known as Imagine Happy Cooking in Europe, the same game just two different titles.
In this game you get the chance to prepare, cook and serve over 50 different dishes from various cultures including Japanese, European and American - you can also make deserts. As with the Cooking Mama games you will be required to chop, fry, knead and perform other cooking actions to make the perfect dish.
Unlike Cooking Mama this game has a storyline to it, I suppose they added this to make it "new" and "different", but really I find the storyline quite annoying - just let me cook! The game puts you in to the role of a little girl called Lisa who promises to cook dinner for her father when he comes back from Europe and then a moon angel comes down in to one of her toy's and grants her wish...really it makes you chuckle but I suppose younger children may like it.
This game would be great if there wasn't so much dialogue, it takes an age before you can actually cook or move on to the next lesson. There's plenty of recipes yes and you can use a range of cooking methods to cook but something is definately lacking when it comes to this game. I find waiting for the dialogue to be over is really boring and well...irritating.
This game is over very quickly as before you know it you've cooked all the dishes, this game also seems quite a bit easier than Cooking Mama. It's an ok game if you have got the patience to go through all the talking but I think Cooking Mama is miles better in terms of what you can do and how many recipes you can master. Young children might like it but for older people I'd say Cooking Mama is the way to go.
Imagine Master Chef has cute little 2D graphics like Cooking Mama and it is simple enough, if you can find it cheaply than go for it but if you have the option of any of the Cooking Mama games or this...go for Cooking Mama! You won't be disapointed.
Summary: Not a patch on Cooking Mama I'm afraid.
