Jewel quest - DS Game

Jewel quest game brings a twist to the traditional match three in a row game. The basic game play is to swap adjacent jewels to match three in a row, horizontally or vertically; till every square on the board as been highlighted. The square is highlighted once a match has been made on the square. The Game revolves around a story with four different characters, so you get an intro story before each level; although you can skip the brief story before each level. The twist to this traditional puzzle game is that as the game progresses and gets harder you need to make multiple matches on the board, to complete the level. The board you play on also get harder it starts of as a simple square and as you progress to the next level, the board changes, each level you play a different board, some of the boards are quite hard and will take a couple of times to complete as they have unusual layouts. Also in the games progress they introduce skulls which make the game harder, if you match three skulls in a row it will un highlight the squares they were on meaning that you need to make a match on the square again. The easy way to get rid of the skulls is to get the skull to the bottom of the board and it will simply drop off the board. The game does also have special coins which you earn by matching three coins in a row you will get a coin added to your collection. You can use this coin to highlight one square on the board. It is very useful if you have been trying to highlight a square on the board in an unusual place. However be careful as it is very easy to use up all you coins in the game, and it is not easy to match three coins in a row as they do not appear on the game board very often. The coins also act like the skulls once they reach the bottom of the board they drop off and you cannot use them.

Opinion

This game is very addictive, you can enjoy playing the same level twice over just to complete it. I have had this game on my mobile phone and it was good on the phone but had limited levels and was easier to complete. Now the game is on the DS it has so much more capability the levels seem to be endless, you start the game in one character and play numerous levels, maybe 30 in total, then you more on to the next character and play the same amount of games, this continues till you have played as all four characters. So as you can imagine there is a lot of levels you keep you occupied. This is a very addictive if not a simple puzzle game that you can pick up to play for a quick game just 10 - 15 mins or you can play on it ages. I would definitely recommend this game to any one who enjoys puzzle games particular match three in a row games. This game can be found, in various shops ranging in prices, i received this a gift, but i know that it can be purchased on Amazon new for £12.99 and from £9.95 for a used product. It is also on play.com for £14.99 which is slightly more expansive. In My opinion this game is definately worth the £14.99, but if you can get cheaper, great. THe game provides multiple levels and for £14.99 this game is a good bargain compared to some of the prices of DS games. It is a must have game in you collection for all the puzzle addicts.

Summary: A very good simple but addictive puzzle game.

Not far off a VU from me, but the huge block paras make it hard to follow.

Looks good but how much is it? This would make a big difference to whether I bought it or not.
