      Love it

A few years ago, I played a game on the Ninendo DS called Hotel Dusk Room 215. I absolutely loved it and this is the follow up that was released in 2010.

It's an unusual type of game, if anyone ever played/read those adventure books when you were young, where you allocated yourself certain points unpon the roll of the dice for your character and then you had to move to different pages according to what decisions you made, then this is kind of like that only, 20 years later and all updated with modern technology, in essence, you push the story forward.

It is a kind of mystery intrigue game, you play the character Kyle Hyde who is an ex detective, now salesman who is living in a former hotel which he discovers is about to be sold to new owners. He then receives an order sheet with a difference, his secret client wants him to solve a mystery related to the hotel and events of the past, and that's where it starts.

You move through the game, interacting with various characters, other residents, hotel staff etc, this is mostly in the form of converstions where you try and drag information out of them but sometimes you visit their room to have a nosy and try and find clues or pieces of evidence. You're free to move around and about the hotel but often thing B can't happen before thing A so in some ways it is pre-determined. Often I have got stuck and wandered around the hotel for ages, trying to find something that will push the investigation forward. I have had to resort to online guides a few time but I don't mind that.

The days are divided into chunks so first you may get a phone call from your boss, then you might want to go and have a word with a suspicious visitor, then maybe you need to watch a relvant TV programme, it really varies what you do and little by little, you will begin to piece the story together. Once you fininsh each 'chapter,', then you get asked a series of summary questions to make sure you are following the plot, you can look back at the story whenever you want too. You will also have a bag full of items that you have or pick up as you progress that are often employed in the story.

I think the artwork/graphics on this are really good and I love the style and they way that each character really does have their own personality and the music always matches the tone of the scene.

If you want something a bit different, but engrossing, this is for you.
